Finca Las Margaritas

Bella Vista, Salta, Argentina

At the family-owned Finca Las Margaritas in Chicoana, near Salta, agricultural heritage and gaucho culture are ingrained into the family history. Nearly 15 years ago, the finca opened its doors to guests, but to this day continues with its agricultural livestock operation. The finca blends adventure with comfort as you can horseback ride through remote mountains to discover gaucho life, visit the cattle feedlots to learn about Argentine beef production, or hike through tobacco fields.

After a day outside, return to the property, which features a colonial manor house surrounded by covered galleries, lush gardens, a swimming pool, and sweeping vistas across the Valle de Lerma. The thoughtfully designed rooms each showcase a unique agricultural theme, complete with cozy fireplaces, complimentary Wi-Fi, and private bathrooms. The finca enriches stays with hands-on regional cooking classes and provides bicycles for guests eager to explore the picturesque countryside at their own pace.

About the ranch

Welcome to Finca Las Margaritas

The finca features 5 unique rooms, each thoughtfully designed to celebrate the agricultural heritage of the estate. Every room tells a story through its decor, drawing inspiration from the main farming activities that have sustained the family for generations.

El Ají (The Chili Room) – This vibrant room honors the chili pepper, or ají, which is a fundamental condiment in regional cuisine and consumed both ground and whole. The room features warm red accents and chili-themed décor throughout.

El Maíz (The Corn Room) – Decorated to celebrate corn’s central role in local cuisine and culture, this room honors Chicoana as the birthplace of Argentina’s best tamales. Corn is used for traditional dishes like humita en chala and frangollo soup, as well as cattle feed on the estate.

El Poroto (The Bean Room) – This room honors Salta’s position as Argentina’s leading bean producer, with 95% of production destined for export.  The family sells their black and white bean harvest while keeping just a few kilos for personal consumption.

El Trigo (The Wheat Room) – This room celebrates wheat and its essential derivatives in the regional diet, particularly flour and oil. It connects to local history through the nearby antique stone mill at Finca de Peñaflor, where wheat was traditionally ground into flour.

El Tabaco (The Tobacco Room) – Celebrating the most important agricultural crop of the Valle de Lerma, this room pays homage to a family tradition begun by the great-great-grandfather and passed down through generations. The youngest generation planted their first tobacco crop in 2012 at age 19, continuing this century-old legacy.

Each room offers guests not just accommodation but an immersive experience in Northern Argentina’s agricultural heritage, with generous spaces that set them apart from typical hotel rooms.
